Information entered into a search form, such as a name, phone number, or address, is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. El Cerrito Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those searches on its own servers. If you contact the operators, the message and any details in it are used to respond.
Data Collected Automatically
Hosting providers ordinarily record technical logs such as an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. Those logs may be reviewed in aggregate to maintain the service and understand general page use. Cookies or related tools may support basic analytics and, where applicable, advertising measurement.
How That Data Is Used
Information is used to operate the reference, troubleshoot faults, measure general traffic, and improve the pages. Visitor lists are not sold, and individual user profiles are not built from the reference’s own records.
Links to Other Websites
Pages link to county and state portals, library collections, archives, court services, and sponsored search tools. Each outside service has its own privacy statement and controls what happens after a visitor leaves this reference. Sponsored results are supplied by a separate company.
Who May Process Information

The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. El Cerrito Residents Directory does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Where the law applies, the California Consumer Privacy Act, Civil Code sections 1798.100 and following, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, provides rights to know, delete, correct, limit certain sensitive-data uses, opt out of sale or sharing, and receive equal treatment. Because this reference keeps little information, a request may involve checking the contact mailbox and available server logs. Use the Contact page to make a request.
Government records are different. Public records held by California, Contra Costa County, or El Cerrito offices remain under the custodian’s control and the California Public Records Act, Government Code sections 7920.000 and following. A deletion request to this reference cannot remove a deed, court file, voter record, or other source record held by a public office. Contact the responsible custodian for those requests.
